It's actually a lot easier to find vegan / strict vegetarian chocolate than you'd think—the trick is to find a good quality dark chocolate. Milk chocolates are almost always non-vegan (unless they're specially made with a milk alternative), but dark chocolates, especially the higher quality ones, don't use it. The list above is some of our favorite vegan / vegetarian chocolates (there's a lot more out there!), and we're always on the lookout for more.

As a self-labeled chocoholic, I'm pretty keen on what the best ones are. The shocker would have to be Wild Oats^® brand Organic "French Truffles," which taste absolutely, mind-blowingly delicious. No one would ever guess they're vegan / vegetarian. The Endangered Species™ brand is also really yummy, and proceeds go toward saving the rainforest!

Where do I buy these products?
Many of these vegan and vegetarian chocolate products are available in health food stores and grocers. You can also purchase them online through the manufacturer (linked above) or their retailers. If you have difficulty finding these vegan and vegetarian chocolate products at your local store, ask a clerk to help you; if your local store doesn't carry these chocolate products, politely request them.
