Road's End Organics^® chreese products are very similar to Kraft^® Macaroni and Cheese, making them the perfect vegan / vegetarian comfort food. You can buy boxes (that come with pasta) or just cheese sauce packets. They also have jars of nacho dip. I prefer the cheddar Mac & Chreese™—if you buy it from their web site, you can buy it in bulk!

Of all of the vegan cheese substitutes available, Vegan Gourmet™ is one of our favorites because it actually melts! Most vegetarian cheese alternatives contains casein in order to melt; vegan cheeses remove these ingredients, making them vegan but not meltable. Vegan Gourmet is one of the few that gets around this by using some creative vegan ingredients. You have to either microwave or broil it for a while first, but it's still fantastic—especially the mozzarella flavor on pizza. Mmm...

There's a pizza chain in Kansas City, MO that offers the Vegan Gourmet™ Vegan Mozzarella cheese! If your local pizza shop sells vegetarian pizza, ask them to offer vegan mozzarella as a pizza topping—their vegetarian customers will love the dairy-free mozzarella!

Where do I buy these products?
Many of these vegan and vegetarian cheese alternatives are available in health food stores and grocers next to the other cheese products or in a special "health food" section. You can also purchase some of them online through the manufacturer (linked above) or their retailers. If you have difficulty finding these vegan and vegetarian cheese products at your local store, ask a clerk to help you; if your local store doesn't carry these products, politely request them.
