A lot of margarines are vegan, but they're not very healthy. The vegan / vegetarian margarines mentioned above are the healthiest ones available today. They contain no hydrogenated oils and are trans fat free. Additionally, some of them, like Earth Balance^® are made with 100 percent expeller-pressed oils, contain no genetically modified material, and have a natural blend that actually help your cholesterol, rather than hurting it. Way cool!

Where do I buy these products?
Many of these vegan and vegetarian butter / margarine alternatives are available in health food stores and grocers in the refrigerated section next to the other butter and margarine products or in a special, refrigerated, "health food" section. You can also purchase some of them online through the manufacturer (linked above) or their retailers. If you have difficulty finding these vegan and vegetarian margarine products at your local store, ask a clerk to help you; if your local store doesn't carry these products, politely request them.
